Its Final Exam Week, I'm so closer to my last day of duty, this coming March 31. (although its not yet official 'coz I haven't submitted my resignation letter yet!). Everyday I'm getting more and more excited of knowing what the future holds for me. It was not an easy decision honestly. The fact that you would leave the first company that you loved for almost three years, the people who first shared to you the feeling of being a professional, molded you and brought out the best in you, your second home almost, its really not easy to let go. But I have to be firm, as much as i want to stay, I am my family's only hope. If I wont try my luck somewhere else now for a greener pasture, i don't know when will be the right time, I'm not getting any younger. Its like now or never for me. Although there is no job yet waiting for me after this, I'm positive that I could have one and better when I get there, in Singapore (If Allah wills). By last week of April or first week of May, I'll be leaving Zamboanga for Malaysia, spend time with my sister for few days and from there to Singapore which is like few minutes flight away.Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Stuck in a Frozen River...
"I would spend my every second making them feel that I would still be here for them while I still can" Last night, as I was having problem with my sleeping habit, I looked for something to entertain my self with (gross!), something that would really lay me to bed. I opened my PC and checked the drives where I saved all the movies that I downloaded. I realized that I still had 10 movies to watch and most of it are Drama. Since I was forcing my self to sleep, i double-clicked the FROZEN RIVER film and started watching it, thinking that it would help me walk through my bed. As the movie started, i got more and more interested with the story. It was about a mother who sacrificed a lot for her 15 and 5 yrs old sons. It made me miss my mom so much, like a flash back, I recalled how much our mother sacrificed for us. That after the death of our father, she faced everything just to raise us all (four of us).Did so many jobs just to feed us, and send us to school. I envy TJ (the 15-yr old son in the film) so much, because he had the chance to make her mother feel that he will always be with her, that he loved her so much without even saying the words. I wished i had all the time to spend it with my mom and my sisters more. How I wished I could turn back time and would make up to her.Wished that I could make her feel the joy and happiness without going through so much pain. But I guess that's how life is, everything is borrowed and not permanent, what He (God) creates shall go back to Him indeed. But I'm still blessed coz I still got my sisters, and soon my own family. I would spend my every second making them feel that I would still be here for them while I still can.

Oscar 2009 Pick
I had my own pick in this year's Golden Globe Winners and i was able to predict Kate Winslet and Health Ledger wins, i hope this time i would be able to predict all major awards for this year's Oscar. Its just a prediction anyway, who knows the Oscar will come across my blog and consider my side hehe..
Slumdog Millionaire - my Best Picture for this year's OSCAR, aside from almost swiping all the Best Picture awards in different award giving bodies, it is also doing well in the box office.
Ron Howard - Slumdog will win the Best Picture, but Ron Howard would still take home the award for Best Director for the Film Frost/Nixon.
Kate Winslet - although she is not nominated for the movie Revolutionary Road, its ok, coz it would be her acting in The Reader that would really give her the first ever Oscar.
Mickey Rourke - Its never too late for actors to have Oscar trophy, while Sean Penn has one already, this time it would definitely go to Mickey Rourke.
Amy Adams - after seeing her in the many movies along with Big Stars lately, i could say Amy is really one of them and i think this time she would win her first Oscar too.
Robert Downey Jr. - his acting in Tropic Thunder is really awesome, although Heath Ledger did well in the Dark Knight, i think others deserve the win, and besides he could benefit no more from it. That is why Robert will win for this year's OSCAR for supporting role.
WALL-E - after watching this cute animated film again and again and could have been nominated for Best Picture, I could really say this would win for sure as Best Animated Film this year.

ICT Week: Green IT Celebration
Last Jan. 19-23 STI-College Zamboanga celebrated the ICT Week with this year's theme "Green IT". The simplicity of the theme suggests how technology should be contributing to the preservation of the environment instead of making it worst. For almost a week, ICT students as well as students from other department (Nursing and BA) celebrated and enjoyed the different activities like PHP and Adobe After Effect Seminars, Film Viewing of IT and Environment-theme films, Programming Competition, PC Assemble/Disassemble Competition and the Interhigh-school Quiz Bowl Competition. PSITS also successfully launched the Computer Museum this year, though we don't have yet the actual old machines and computer devices we still managed to have it launched with photos(its a good start anyway!).
These are some of the photos of different activities for the entire ICT WEEK
The Winners of INTERHIGH SCHOOL ICT QUIZ BOWL (On the left is the 2nd Placer, Ayala National Highschool, the Champion on the middle, Filipino-Turkish Tolerance High School, and on the right 3rd placer, WMSU-Integrated Laboratory High School.

Everyday we live, we laugh, we cry and we let go..
What if things are going backward? What if you grow old by getting younger? What if life seems to be too long for you to live while you see the rest dying? What if? These are the questions that you would ask yourself after watching the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I don’t really know if I will to believe Mr. Button’s case. Although his life was just a product of one’s imagination, a fiction, a piece of literature for us to be entertained with while we get bored, it was really worth it. It made me realized that mystery of life lies on every second you live with, the opportunities we grabbed or even those we missed. Every day we live, laugh, cry then we let go, as Benjamin said when his father died “You can be mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You can swear and curse the fates. But when it comes to the end, you have to let go.” It may be the hardest part, but what’s good about letting go is an opportunity to start all over again.

Back to the real world..
Its school time, everything would be back to normal. No more endless time of chatting with friends and unlimited sleeping hours. Its work work again, where life really is, where things have to be taken seriously all the time. But after almost three years in teaching career I still don't know if i'm making any difference in my life and the life of other people, my students or my co-employees. Everything the same to me it seems. I don't know what it really means, but there is something in me that seeks another comfort. Another environment to start with something new, with another people and with a new life. Now i really understand how life can be very difficult. How I wish this would be easier than I imagine it to be.

My Pick for this year Golden Globe
Critic Awards have been naming their picks for Acting Awards and Best Pictures and Golden Globe has already announced its rolls of nominees. I'm sure the Oscar Academy is also busy doing screening and other stuff in picking thier list of nominees. While the rest are busy with all its long processes of coming up with the winners, i also have my own list, and they are the following.
Best Picture Drama- Frost/Nixon - Its really my choice for Best Picture, coz i want to see more of Howard's Biographic Films. A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man were really my all time favorite movies and im sure this Fronst/Nixon would really add to my list. My runner-up would be the intriguing story of Slumdog Millionaire.
Best Picture Musical or Comedy - Mama Mia! - Its very relaxing with a very smooth choreography in dancing, with a very great actors like Meryl Streep and a surprising talent from Mr. James Bond, Pierce Brosnan.
Best Director - Ron Howards - Obviously, my pick, who is really my favorite director. Next to him is Steven Spielberg whose movie this year is not much an award-like.
Best Actor - Leonardo DiCaprio - I think this year is another year for Leonardo to win Best Actor for the film "Revolutionary Road" after winning the award with the movie "Aviator.
Best Actress - Anne Hathaway - This is really a surprise nod for Anne, from a teen star to a more matured role, i think she would make history like Reese Witherspoon did in 2006.
Best Animated Film - Kung Fu Panda - I'm sorry Wall-E, i like you very much, but I like Po more, and with all the outstanding casts, its really my this year's animated film favorite.
Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger - his outstanding performance in The Dark Knight is really unescapable. He was brilliant and really deserve the award.
Best Supportin Actress - Kate Winslet - By just reading the synopsis of this film, i can already imagine Kate portraying her role. If she would have been nominated Best Actress in this film, she could have been my pick for Best Actress.
So those are my picks, they might not all win in Golden Globe, but i'm sure they will make it in Oscar, atleat nominees.

Its really been a long time..
Its really been a long time, I almost forgot about updating my blog because of too many things to do. Thank God now, i have a very little time of writing something here. After the Cebu trip last October, i attended several trainings, i think 4 more training, that include Training Need Analysis, Training's Trainer, the other one from TESDA and the one I am attending now, Globe Broad Band Training. I feel so blessed with all these opportunities, I hope this would really help me to be a better person. Although having more skills and knowledge on so many things doesn't warrant stable job or good reputation perhaps, but atleast its good that you have something to share to others.

Cebu, here i come...
Tonight is my last night in Zamboanga City because tomorrow afternoon i'll be leaving for Cebu for a seminar with our CEO, COO, Marketing Head and my other colleague. I'm really excited to go, i don't know whether its the place that excites me or the training itself. We will be staying there for 4 days for a 3-day seminar. Its really my first time to go to Cebu, I went to several places in Luzon and here in Mindanao but never a place in Visayas. I was just thinking about it when our Marketing Head told me that she will recommend me for a Carreer Adviser Training in Cebu. Its like a dream came true. I was hesistant at first when i knew that i will be speaking infront of 100 CEOs and COOs of STI in entire Philippines. But when i came to remember the film i watched, it reminded me that this is an another opportunity for me. I must not let this pass by, after all, this is one of the things i really wanna do. I'm just hoping that i would really make it with flying colors. Everyone expects us to be actually and i told them we will just give our best.

Never too late for a Children's Party..
Last October 4, we had our 2nd company's General Meeting. It was full of fun, our theme was 'Children's Party', and everyone was really dressed like children, i just don't know if i was properly dressed that time hehe. One of the highlights of the Gen Meet was the presentation of each group. I lead the group as we presented our group game called "GAME". Everyone participated and cooperated and our group won the Jolliest Group, and i got the MOST ENERGETIC FACILITATOR award. I was really happy and overwhelmed with their appreciation. Our COO even texted me in the morning and she told me how she was impressed with the way how I have grown as a good facilitator. I didn't know what to reply so i just thanked her for the trust and for the opportunities.

Robert Downey Jr. is portraying Sherlock Holmes

After portraying Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. is said to be portraying detective Sherlock Holmes which will be out in 2010 and will be directed by Guy Ritchie. But before Robert wore the iron suit and became superhero he had already proven his acting capability and was able to be recognized by the Academy with his nomination for Best Actor in 1992 with the film Chaplin.
He had also worked with Oscar Best Actress Halley Berry in Gothika, with Val Kilmer in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and with Jake Gyllanhaal and Mark Rufallo in Zodiac. Despite of all that it was really Iron Man that made him as one of the box office actors of today.
His latest movie, Thropic Thunder with Ben Stiller and Jack Black is still out and has already reached over 100 million in the box office.

Got to start with our Research Work..
Taking Masters Degree while working is really tough. You have to manage your time, expenses and not to mention your effort for the two. But as much as i want to concentrate on one thing (either my job as full time instructor or my Masters) I just can't drop any of them. It's because despite of having ma-kulit and pasaway na students I really love teaching. It's really my passion of sharing what I know to people. And since I'm handing college students, i need and i must finish my Masters by 2010. Simply because by that year, instructors in College in any institution should have thier masters finished to qualify to teach.
I just started with my further study last semester, but bulks of requirements already including paper works and researches have to be complied with. And we should be working on the rest this week to be submitted this Saturday. For my research in one subject, our instructor approved my topic regarding Computer Games, though i first proposed "The effects of Computer Games to Students as a factor in Dropping out and Failure", our instructor wanted it as related to Education (since I'm taking up MS Engineering Education major in ICT). So I decided to take the "Experiences of Computer Science Students in Creating Computer Games in thier Theses " instead. And with that I have to start gathering data/information from anyone who are into ' developing computer games'.
Goodluck to me and my classmate.

A Lesson from Mr. Woodcock Film
Mr. Woodcock is really one of the funniest movies that you really have to watch this season. Starred by Sean William Scott and Billy Bob Norton, Mr. Woodcock is a whole lot of fun and a totally disaster movie. But along with its humor, Mr. Woodcock comes with a very important lesson that we can really relate with. Sean William Scott in the film is an author of the best selling book that talks about 'Letting go of the past'. He did let go of his past that brought by his PE instructor (Norton) and upon going back home after 13 years, he was surprised to meet Mr. Woodcock again, and dating his mom. His life seems to be back again to the time when he was taking PE class with Mr. Woodcock. Instead of living his mom and Woodcock alone together, Sean did everything to brainwash the people around him including his mom that Woodcock is an evil.
Like in any movie, happy ending also happened in this movie with Sean's realization. He said that 'letting go of the past doesn't really make you a better person instead, you embrace your past so that it won't really bother you no matter what happen in your present. Which is really true, do no just let go, you also have to accept it, once you reached that period, moving on is just easy..
